Daring Diva

It seems that Lindsey loves to do most everything nontraditionally. From talking to playing with her toys. She just recently came up with a new way to ride her fave zebra: sideways! "Of course!" you're thinking. She is such a daring baby. This video, and the next two, certainly illustrate that well. Brace yourself. Small disclaimer: I'm always right next to her when I film, and always have a free hand in case there is a problem--and I know what she's going to do and what to expect. That all being said, I can't tell you how many times my heart has been in my throat with some of the stunts she pulls.....

*sigh* Lindsey's new nickname: Evil Knievel. Why do I have visions of playing this clip years from now saying that she started all of this early on......???

Lindsey thought that climbing into her toy bucket and rocking it backwards until she fell over with it is just hilarious!! I was nervous, of course, when I first saw her do this, but realized how slowly she goes over and how well she controls the fall and keeps her head up. Listen for the laughter, she cracks up the whole time. Such a daring and funny baby!!

Happy Easter!!

Lindsey had a great Easter today. First, we had brunch with Nana & Grandpa. Next we went home for a little bit and looked around our house for eggs. Lindsey found a whole bunch, and wanted to take them, but we had her wait until later on tonight when her brother got home so they could do their egg hunt and baskets at the same time. After "looking" at the eggs in our house, we went to Grandma Bower's house and had dinner there and played with the kids in the family. We then came home and did our egg hunt and baskets. Now, amazingly, through all of this, Lindsey never got a nap today and did a great job at staying happy (and awake). Now, it's time for a bath and bed. *Side Note* The last picture where Lindsey is pointing is from brunch when she saw the Easter Bunny there and was so excited that she practically climbed out of her high chair! She was sooo excited. It was sooo cute!! It's been a very busy and a very good day. Happy Easter, everyone!

Easter at Nana & Grandpa's

We celebrated Easter at Nana & Grandpa's house today because William won't be with us until later on tomorrow, and we wanted to make sure that he was able to do an egg hunt and get his basket with them. Both kids had a great time! Lindsey sure picked up on what to do right away. She found all of her eggs (hidden only upstairs in the barn) and put them in a bag like an old pro. While we were downstairs for William's turn, she found a few eggs, also, and seized the opportunity to nab a few more for her basket! William was not too pleased, but he definitely looked harder and faster with a little competition behind him. Guess we'll have to see what the Easter Bunny does for the kiddies tomorrow! Happy Easter, everyone!

Lindsey & Alex Play

The Boises came over last night so that the kids could play together! It has been a long since time since they have had a chance to play (last August at her birthday--to be precise!). They both had a lot of fun and there weren't even any 'tug of wars' about toys. I was a little worried about how Lindsey was going to respond to Alex playing with her toys, etc. When William does, she becomes very upset, but she was very calm and happy with Alex. It was really cute to see them interacting. Hopefully it will warm up soon and we can get them together again at a park (or at the beach when it really warms up!).
The last picture is of Lindsey and Daddy. In Daddy's mind, the perfect end to a nice day with his baby girl :) (In case you can't tell, they were watching drag racing together.)

19 Months Old

Lindsey is 19 months old today! I just recently had her pictures taken and they turned out beautifully. I also got pictures of the two kids together. Now I just have to wait for them to come in--about two weeks. Can't wait to hang those on the wall! It's finally starting to warm up a bit out here (40s) and we have been spending a little bit of time outside. Lindsey really enjoys walking around on the sidewalk when we're out. It'll be nice when all of the snow melts, things dry up, and then the kids will be able to play in the backyard on our swing set. Lindsey is going to be so much fun this Spring and Summer. She is able to do so much more physically now that she getting older (pushing 2!!).

Lindsey is trying to talk a bit more now. She added "cookie" a few weeks back, and has also said "fishies" and made "quack, quack" noises, too. One cute thing is that she enjoys watching "Blues Clues" from time to time and can identify when there is a "clue!" On a more toddlerish note, she has also become very possessive of her toys--or anything that she wants. William is a great big brother and sincerely enjoys playing with her, but lately she has been very crabby with him--yelling anytime he touches something that is hers. Very "terrible twosie." *Ugh* We're entering that phase...Time for a good balance of love and discipline. Is this when I start getting gray hair??? :)

(*Side note* I made the green dress that Lindsey is wearing today! It turned okay as long as you don't look at the seams ;) I'm still learning lots when it comes to my sewing machine...There's a few more projects in the making.)

Picture Time!

I had William & Lindsey's pictures taken on Monday. Most of them turned out cute, though you wouldn't guess how difficult Lindsey really was just by looking at her pictures. We did catch her smiling a couple of times. It has actually been a year since I had her pictures taken. She wasn't very cooperative then, and wasn't really this time either. We even had William jumping up and down trying to get her to laugh, smile or anything! Anyway, a few pictures did turn out nice, and now I have a nice picture of the two of them together :)

Easter Egg Mess

While I was sweeping this afternoon, Linsey found the bag of Easter eggs that I had in the pantry. She thought they were so neat and pulled them out one by one. Soon the floor was filled with eggs. I have a feeling she is going to love Easter!

Update

We were unable to go the Dells this weekend due to Lindsey (& eventually the rest of us-- with the exception of William) being sick. My mom and I could tell that she wasn't feeling well this past Monday based on how she was acting and that night further cemented the "sick" idea in our minds. Over the next couple days, she continued to present cold like symptoms with a very runny nose and also insane amounts of drool. I continued to pack and get ready for our trip figuring that she only had a cold. Last Thursday, I met up with my mom for lunch so that I could send her back with our dogs since they we were going to stay with them while we were gone. During that lunch, Lindsey had an odd break down that lasted for over an hour. I even had to leave Chili's without eating. I felt horrible. She continued crying all the way home and kept on crying even when we were back. I called the doctor's office to have her seen that day just so I could figure out what exactly we were dealing with--figuring that we would be gone for four days. Never in my wildest dreams would I have guessed that Lindsey tested positive for strep throat!! She has been a very healthy baby for the past 18 months. She hasn't even had one ear infection yet.

Well, that was the end of our trip to the Dells. We were thinking that if she somehow amazingly felt better within a day of taking medicine that maybe we would still go up, but then my throat was a bit sore, and then Jason's was, too, and he feels even worse now with this illness having moved to his chest with a very deep cough. He just laid around the house all day yesterday. I can't imagine how miserable we would all have been had we gone up there. Only now, I feel awful because our friends are up there and this whole trip was my idea in the first place. I just hope they're having a good time. They're great people to hang out with and it's a shame that we missed out. Gotta take care of a sick baby, though. What kind of a parent would I be if I would forced the situation just so I could potentially have some fun? Family first. I just hope everyone starts feeling better soon. Jason doesn't get sick too often, but when he does, he's usually down for a while. Hopefully this will pass soon, and hopefully Spring will get here soon. They're predicting more snow for this week....ARGH!!!!
